Bryston
First of all, Bryston makes its own drivers, and complete speakers, in its own factory in Canada with a TWENTY YEAR warranty. Bryston doesn’t source its drivers, woofers or others, from vendors. The result is that Bryston has total control over what goes into its speakers. For today’s discussion, we’re talking woofers.
Bryston makes a prodigious 8” woofer that is used throughout its Model T series of speakers. It’s an exceptional BEAST that provides spectacular foundation to all Model T models.
I want to point out that all 8’s are not equal. In fact, the diameter is just the start. You can get a great 8 like a Bryston, or any number of flimsy 8’s in lightweight Chinese imports.
A Bryston 8 produces more testosterone than 10’s, 12’s or even 15’s from most of the other guys. When you evaluate materials and size… I’ll take Bryston 7 days a week.
Let’s not waste time with patsies. Let’s compare/contrast Bryston’s 8 with some highly esteemed alternatives used in haughty brand names you’ll recognize, that sell for many thousands. You’ll see these exact drivers, especially the Scanspeak Revelators, in some of the most expensive brands on the market.
I’m not saying these other guys are bad. In fact, they’re good, which is why audiophile royalty uses them.
What I AM saying is that Bryston provides better value, given its sound, muscle and especially in light of its 20 year warranty.
