At least several times a week I get calls from customers that hate their TV service. It’s too expensive and the prices keep getting jacked up. “Should I switch to A,B or C?”
Whether you have satellite or cable, its the same dilemma.
One of my daughters has some streaming service and the sports action buffers, so it’s strobe like, even with internet speed of 300. No thanks to that either.
If you have DirecTV and switch to Spectrum, you’ll hate it. You’ll like the fast internet. You will want to break your TV screens.
I had DirecTV at home for a dozen years. The TV signal is OK, but you lose the signal to rain fade far more than they would lead you to believe. As a hockey fan, when the Stanley Cup playoff tournament begins in the spring, the signal is sure to go out during the games you’re most interested in.
We switched to Spectrum recently because AT&T’s internet service tops out at 30 in my neighborhood- not even close to good enough. Spectrum’s internet speed of 300 is dramatically better. At least iPads and phones work now.
Spectrum’s TV service is absolutely hideous. It’s much worse than DirecTV. You need to know this before you change. Of course nobody warned ME.
When you turn on your modern Samsung TV with built in Spectrum app, it takes roughly 30 seconds to get to a place where you can select a channel. When you select your channel, it takes about 5 seconds to change. EVERY station change takes 5-6 seconds! So much for quick clicking.
I have a Samsung in my basement with all the workout gear. This TV has the Spectrum app too. It is about 5 years old, hardly ancient. When I turn it on, it takes 1:47 to get to a place where you can select a station. That’s right, almost 2 minutes. It defaults to channel 1, like a hotel set up.
When you punch in the channel you want, it takes exactly 11 seconds to switch to that channel. When you switch to any other channel, it takes 11 seconds to get there. ELEVEN! Once again, no speed clicking.
When you sign up for installation or service, you’re told 10-noon. You always get a call about noon saying, we’re running late. You’ll be lucky to see a tech by 2. In short- virtually your whole day is shot dealing with these people if you need help in your home.
When you combine torturous functionality with high price and more commercials than ever, playing music is a much more pleasant entertainment option. It’s time to update your hi-fi and reduce your reliance on abysmal TV!
