Klipsch Forte 4 Speakers, $5000 Per Pair
(35.75h, 16.63w, 13d, 72 lbs, 99 dB SPL)
Talk about a GUILTY PLEASURE! Klipsch’s new Forte 4 is a rock lover’s delight. Line ‘em up and let ‘er rip. There’s nothing fussy about the new Forte 4, which is literally a blast to listen to.
Klipsch’s new Forte 4 is an updated version of its iconic Forte 3 loudspeaker. The updates include an improved Mylar midrange driver with advanced horn shaping techniques. There’s a new Titanium tweeter and wave guide. The crossover is improved. The cabinet has been updated which includes a handsome recessed riser. The speakers now come with a beautiful salt and pepper grill, which makes the prior traditional black cloth seem 1970s.
In short, K tweaked F3 to deliver a nicely improved Forte 4. Each tweak accomplishes precisely what they were after.
The most noticeable improvement is in the size of the image. Forte 4 projects a much taller and wider stage than Heresy 4, its little brother. Since you can drive F4 with literally any amp due to its high efficiency, you’ll be able to achieve this huge soundstage no matter what you’re running.
The next improvement you can’t miss is a more delicate midrange articulation. Attacks on guitar strings and drum kits move like lightning.
Of course a horn design will deliver a Row A perspective to your music. It’s great fun being in the front row and hearing the minutia of a live performance. You can debate that the horn flavor is your cup of tea- or not. But there is NO debate about how much FUN these boys are when you choose to shake the dust off the cones.
While Forte 4 is just over 16 and a half inches wide, it’s actually easy to place. It is very happy near the back wall and doesn’t have to be towed in to provide a big soundstage. You pretty much can plunk ‘em down and turn on the music.
When you want to hear music that can breathe life into your living room, and CAN play at volumes similar to what you would hear live, Forte 4 should definitely be on your short list of considerations.
