Isotek Corvus V5 Mains Conditioner $1095
Isotek taught us over a decade ago that mains conditioners not only protect us from electronic damage, they can distinctly IMPROVE your sound quality. Up to that time, I’d never heard a conditioner actually IMPROVE definition. In fact, they HURT sound quality by making the sound a tad more foggy. Isotek of England changed that!
In short, your power outlet is full of honeybees buzzing away. We have a meter we can test outlets with. EVERY outlet we have ever tested, whether at our store or at a customer’s house, buzzes away like mad. Isotek strips this noise down to minimal or zero.
This makes for a valuable improvement in your hi-fi system’s performance. Transient attacks, like picks against guitar strings and hammers against piano wires, are significantly better delineated. A stand up bass or drum kit gets tighter. Dynamic range improves. And most of all, it sounds more clear- as if you removed a layer of thick grill cloth off your speakers.
Your TV, cable box, Apple TV, Roku etc, will all look better plugged into Corvus.
It has come to the point that if you DON’T have a good, modern mains conditioner in your system (we’re voting for Isotek!), you simply cannot garner the black background and micro detail we audiophiles crave.
Corvus is a remarkable, affordable conditioner.
*It has 9 outlets. Each outlet has its own filter, hence there is no back talk among components plugged into Corvus. Many competitors daisy chain outlets and have just one filter per bar. That filter does help save you from the wall, but all the products plugged into the bar back wash, or pollute each other.
*Corvus offers 35dB of isolation. And again, that means every outlet is clean. It wouldn’t be as effective if there was only one filter for the whole bar of outlets.
*Corvus comes with an Initium power cable. This is an excellent power cable that sells for $175 on its own. It is made of nickel pins and a Polyethelyne jacket. Most mains conditioners from various competitors come with NO power cable, or a $5 flimsy black one- like the ones that come with audio gear.
Why don’t audio components come with better power cables?
First of all, if you haven’t stripped the noise out of the wall, you won’t be able to hear any benefit from superior power cables. Remember when we had snow in our analog TV picture? Job one is to eliminate the snow. Without a proper mains conditioner in your system, the noise from the wall with obfuscate what good power cable can do for you. You have to have the conditioner to make the power cable investment worthwhile.
Secondly, if you add an Isotek Initium cable to the product of your choice, the price goes up $175. It’s a competitive world out there. No component manufacturer is willing to complicate its job by trying to convince you that $175 or your amp’s price is an important cable.
