Hegel V10 Phono Preamp, $1650
Hegel Music Systems’ new V10 is my favorite phono preamp. Please don’t look past V10 just because it’s so inexpensive. In today’s world phono preamps of $6k are middle of the road pricing!
You’ll want V10 for its lack of noise. It won’t add noise to your record playing experience. Keeping the noise floor low allows you to hear the best detail from your records, whether in MM or MC.
V10 supports MM & MC, of course.
V10 has ultra low noise JFET stages for MM & MC. It has two for MM and four for MC to make noise non existent and preventing bias current feeding back to the cartridge coil.
It has BALANCED and RCA outputs!
It has a subsonic filter.
It has comprehensive capacitance load settings.
The power supply is a low noise, LINEAR AC supply. It features a large customer transformer housed in its own enclosure.
The chassis is divided into two compartments, to separate the power supplies from sensitive amplifier circuitry.
MM capacitance runs between 100 and 467 pF.
MC impedance can be set between 33 and 550 ohms- or fixed at 47k ohms.
Gain can be increased by 5, 10 or 12 dB in MM and MC usage.
