RIP Anita Pointer

RIP Anita Pointer (1948-2022) I was going through my posts and realized, somehow, unforgivably, I missed recognizing the death of one of my favorite pop singers, the ever energetic and joyful Anita Pointer. She died on the last day of 2022. I thought I had mentioned her in the Jan 2023 newsletter, but now see, that I didn’t. It’s never too late…

TV Is Terrible

At least several times a week I get calls from customers that hate their TV service. It’s too expensive and the prices keep getting jacked up. “Should I switch to A,B or C?” Whether you have satellite or cable, its the same dilemma. One of my daughters has some streaming service and the sports action buffers, so it’s strobe like, even with…

Integrated Amp Or Separates

Which is the better choice to get the best sound for your money? The answer used to be separates for sure. Not any more. Integrated Amps An integrated amp has a preamp and power amp in one box. Sometimes it has a DAC and or phono preamp built in too. All of this is quite convenient and cost effective. But in general…

this patented circuitry reduces RF and audio interference.” Astonishing build quality…

New Bryston Model T10 Speakers, $20,000, Pair

The fit and finish is fantastic on these speakers. They have crazy powerful and articulate room filling bass! (our room is 1000+ square
feet). Their midrange is rich and tonality correct with spot-on imaging
and they have non-fatiguing, ultra-clean, and precise highs. They are
the best off-axis performing speakers we have heard to this day. The power handling capabilities of these T-10s is astonishing to say the
least! We are sure that our distant neighbours could agree! LOL.

New Vs Vintage

Larry visited recently with a McCormack DNA-125 power amp in tow. He wanted to hear it vs a new Hegel integrated amp, to see if the investment would be worth upgrading to. Let me start by saying, I think very highly of McCormack amps. They were built in the 1990s up to about 2000. DNA-125 sold for $1995 and had 125 w/ch….
