We get solicitations almost every day. One manufacturer or another has a new product we can’t live without. The new gear can be from an existing vendor, or someone new trying to win our biz. I usually take a LOOK so I can keep in touch with what’s going on.
But there is a MASSIVE, insidious change afoot to create new biz. It’s called ARPU.
ARPU is “Average Revenue Per User.” It is measured by monthly revenue. UGH.
Yep, the connivers are encouraging business people like Audio Emporium to get into your house by getting involved with your wi-fi. They’re telling dealers to follow the lead of AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. They want us to sell you hardware to throw your wi-fi around, and ding you a monthly fee to support it. With more smart products coming out every day, surely the consumer is a sucker for this.
“Get your customers used to paying you for a monthly service. You will be able to charge increasing amounts for your service in the future.” All ya have to do is call us and we’ll teach you how to worm your way into homes so you can slam your customers’ credit cards every month.
Yep, learn from the behemoths. Get into the home, charge a monthly fee and provide the worst possible service you can get away with. Lovely.
