JL Audio E-110 Subwoofers $1900ea = $3800 Per Pair

JL Audio is a strong proponent of running TWO subs, not one. Visit Audio Emporium to compare. When you hear the comparison, you’ll agree.
If you can’t afford two, buy one now. We’ll have the other one for you when you’re ready. But be sure to have TWO in your game plan. Two give you better proportioned bass and the feeling that your bass performance is just coasting.
In a way, E-110 is the SWEET SPOT in the JL Audio lineup. E-110 runs $800 each more than its smaller brother D-110. Yet, the woofer driver used in E-110 is of the same strength and architecture of its bigger brother, E-112. E-110 gives you far more than a little taste of the bigger world. Read on!
The woofer is SO MASSIVE on the E Series that you can see the extra depth and double spider system. Further, the FACE the driver is mounted on is part of the system, and the CABINET of the E Series has a special locking support for the back of the drive element. The woofer is so monstrous that it needs this support! Nobody else’s… has such a need. Everyone else screws the driver into the front baffle and leaves the tail end waving in the breeze. JL’s front AND REAR locking system make the performance deeper and tighter. The driver is supported front and back. It isn’t just wiggling out of control.
In the driver comparison photo, L to R you see three cast frame subs. JL Audio E, JL Audio D, and Paradigm.
The benefit of all this size and steel is exactly what you would infer. It has significantly more weight and impact than its “little brother.” In fact, E-110’s cabinet isn’t dramatically larger than D-110. Yet its performance IS dramatically more DEVASTATING!
So here’s what I’m suggesting. If you can go north of D-110, you would do well to consider E-110 in black ash. Your performance is much deeper and HEAVIER-while maintaining a tuneful sound.
There’s one OTHER big difference. The crossover network on the E Series is a substantial cut above. The ability of the Es to dovetail in with your R&L main speakers is just like a well fit glove. Never have I heard subs that are less obtrusive, while providing high testosterone performance. Hence E-110 goes much deeper and heavier than D-110, while impinging less on the mid/bass.
If we agree from the outset that nothing is perfect (big stretch-A?), you’ll find the JL E-110 performs much more like the IDEAL of mating subs with satellite speakers in a seamless fashion- than anything less.
E-110 can go significantly deeper, stronger and heavier than any driver built in a tower. That’s right. You can buy a $50K pair of towers and their bass WILL NOT be as good as a pair of E-110s! I find the E-110 and E-112, take great affordable speakers for about $4K per pair- and push them into the stratosphere. All those $4K speakers lack- is the foundation moving bass that live music can create.
